Winter Skincare: 7 Things You Need to Know Now!

Keep your skin glowing, hydrated and protected throughout this cold season with our seven winter skincare tips.

Let's get to it!

Seven Winter Skincare Solutions

1. Use lukewarm water
In order to keep your skin happy wash and rinse your skin with lukewarm water only. The rule to use hot water to open your pores and cold water to close them, turns out to be just a myth! It's because exposing your skin to different extremes of temperature so suddenly may cause irritation, dryness and more. Yikes!

2. Moisturize immediately
Once you have cleansed both your face and body don’t wait to apply your moisturizer. By applying moisturizer to slightly damp skin, helps to seal in extra moisturize that many need during the colder months.

3. Protect your skin
While spending time outdoors protect your skin by bundling up it's quite simple! Also, don't think that sunscreen is just for the summertime. During the winter, the sun still shines and combined with the shiny, bright snow it creates glare and can still cause damage to your skin. So slather on sunscreen to any exposed areas with a SPF of at least 30 whether it's rain or shine, snowy or sunny!

4. Exfoliate
By exfoliating your skin (face, body and don’t forget those hands) at least one to two times per week you are removing the old skin cells that pile up instead of shedding as we age. If exfoliation is not currently a part of your winter skincare routine, please incorporate it! Who wants dull, rough and dry skin? Also, proper exfoliation allows for moisturizing products to penetrate and absorb more deeply, helping hydrate your skin even more.

5. Use a humidifier
Did you know that your central heating system may be doing its part in making your skin dry? That is because its job is to blast hot air throughout our homes effectively drying the air that surrounds us. However, by simply incorporating a humidifier in your winter skincare routine you can help reintroduce moisture back into the air to prevent your skin from drying out.

6. Healthy lifestyle
For extra supple skin during the wintertime, why not revitalize it with hydrating drinks and an added boost of nutrients to your meals. At Avazera our collection of organic loose leaf tea blends and premium superfoods is a great way to help nourish your skin from the inside out! Now, did you know that tea helps hydrate the skin just as effectively as water does, but with the added benefits of antioxidants? We kid you not it does wonders for your skin! As well, our superfoods can provide your skin with many benefits like Vitamins A through E, antioxidants, omega-3, protein and much more just by simply adding them into your daily meals such as: smoothies, oatmeal, soups, and guacamole to name a few. The possibilities are endless!

7. Change your cleanser
The cleanser that you would use during the warmer months, such as glycolic or salicylic acid (which cuts through oil) should be avoided during the cooler months as they are very drying. Instead, switch to a hydrating cleanser to give you that extra bit of help!
